What is hypnosis used for?

Hypnosis has been successfully used to help with many different issues including stress reduction, weight management, smoking/vaping cessation, overcoming specific fears, building confidence, increasing physical comfort, improving performance and many, many more. The American Medical Association has recognized Hypnotherapy as a valid medical treatment since 1958. It is certainly one of the most powerful methods of creating positive change in a person's life.

Does hypnosis work?

Hypnosis works when a person believes it will work and allows it to work. There are a couple of key factors affecting the success of hypnosis.

  • Belief in the process

  • Following the directions of the hypnotist

  • Allowing yourself to go into a deeply relaxed state

  • Doing the follow up self-hypnosis exercises that reinforce the newly instilled suggestions for desired change.

Hypnosis can be a powerful tool for personal change, health, and performance improvement. The key is to open yourself, actively engage in the change process and allow the suggestions to become part of your new reality.

Is hypnosis safe?

Yes, hypnosis is a safe and non-invasive practice. During a hypnosis session, you are always in control. Although you are more open to suggestion during hypnosis, your free will remains intact.

Can I be hypnotized?

Most people can be hypnotized and have experienced hypnotic trance many times in their everyday lives such as when you:

  • First wake up and as you fall asleep each night.

  • Do repetitive sports that put you in the 'zone' like long distance running or swimming.

  • Watch an engaging movie that pulls you into the story, which is a hypnotic state.

  • Read a novel so engrossing that you lose track of time

  • Drive along the highway and lose track of what exit you are near, which is known as "highway hypnosis".

  • Participate in guided visualizations, or relaxation at the end of yoga class, or during massage

  • Listen to music, which can transport you into a hypnotic state.

As the examples above indicate, you have already experienced hypnosis and it is a natural process.
